TRUCK OVERDIMENSIONAL PERMIT LIMITATIONS

Weight: Single - 20,000 Lbs; Tandem - 40,000 Lbs; Tridum - 60,000 Lbs; Quad - 60,000 Lbs. Gross Weight: 5 Axles - 92,000 Lbs, includes 96" spread axle; 6 Axles -112,000 Lbs; 7 Axle-132,000 Lbs, 8 Axles max.-152,000 Lbs with booster; Maximum gross weight allowed on a 9 axle configuration is 152,000 Lbs. Refer to MO Permit Regulations book pages 31-33 for axle configurations.

Length: 150',

Width: 16', manufactured homes and other loads except as follows, 14', for farm products

Height: Depends on routing, over 16' high requires route survey and over 15' 6" may requires a height pole.

In excess of 16' wide, 16' high, 150' foot long, 152,000 Lbs considered a super load.

TRUCK FLAGS SIGNS & LIGHTS

"Oversize Load" signs must be at least 7' long by 18" high with 10" letters of 1 5/8" wide brush strokes with black letters and yellow background,. These signs are to be displayed on the front and rear of the load vehicle when overall width exceeds 10'6" and on the rear of the load when overall length exceeds 90' for a combination unit and 50' for a single unit. Flags shall be red or orange fluorescent and in good condition, with no advertising or wording and be at least 18" square. They must be displayed at the extreme ends or projections of all overdimensional loads except overheight. Flagging is required whenever the dimensions of overwidth loads are equal to or exceed the width of the traveled lane on 2-lane bridges or whenever the movement is of such width or length that it infringes on the adjacent lane of traffic. Specific restrictions and special requirements will be noted on your Missouri permit or refer to your MO Overdimensional and Overweight Permit Regulations book 7-CSR 10-2.010

Escort Requirements and Curfew Travel Times

No Escort is required for loads 12'4" wide and under. Rear Escort for loads over 12'4" wide and up to and including 14' wide on dual-lane divided or multi-lane pavement. Front Escort for loads over 12'4" wide and up to and including 14' wide on 2-lane pavement on designated route system. In tourist areas (see subsection 9-0) refer to MO Permit Regulations book). One (1) Escort required for each overdimensional unit on the interstate and designated route system.

This Escort shall be in the rear on dual-lane, divided, or multi-lane pavement and in the front on 2-lane pavement. Travel on routes off interstate and designated-route system will require two (2) escorts (1 front and 1 rear). For loads over

14' to 16' overall width movement is limited to Monday through Friday except as prohibited by holiday restrictions (see subsection (1)(I) refer to MO Permit Regulations book). Movement is further restricted from 6:30 to 9:00 a.m. and

3:30 to 6:00 p.m. on all routes. One (1) Escort is required in the rear on interstate and other divided highways. Two (2) Escorts are required on all multilane undivided and 2-lane highways, (1 font and 1 rear).

Super Heavy and Large Load Movement:

Loads in excess of 16' wide, 16' high, 150' long and/or over 152,000 Lbs gross weight. All super heavy and large load moves shall have a front and a rear Escort. No movement on 2-lane highways when dirt shoulders are wet. Rear Escort on overlength when the vehicle and load exceed 90' long on a combination unit on all highways except divided highways.

ESCORT VEHICLE REQUIREMENTS

Must be a single unit vehicle of standard size with unobstructed vision to the front and rear and in safe operating condition. The unit may be an automobile, pickup truck, station wagon or equivalent unit. "Oversize Load" signs shall be displayed on the front and/or rear of the Escort whichever is applicable. An optional sign mounted on top of the vehicle with printing on both sides is acceptable. Signs are to be a minimum size of 5' x l' high with minimum 8" high letters. Signs must be yellow with black lettering. Escorts must be equipped with at least two red or orange fluorescent flags mounted on a staff at the two front extremities of the vehicle for a front Escort and at the rear extremities for a rear Escort. The vehicles must have two-way radio contact. Minimum financial responsibility required for escort vehicles is: personal injury liability $50,000 each person, $200,000 each accident, property damage liability $50,000, or combined single liability $250,000. It is the responsibility of the permittee to see that this is in force.

TRAVEL TIME

Travel is permitted one-half hour before Sunrise to one-half hour after Sunset except in metropolitan areas and tourist areas. Saturday and Sunday movement is not allowed in excess of 14' wide. There are travel time restrictions on Super Load movements. Curfew Movement in the metropolitan areas of St. Louis, St. Charles, Kansas City and Springfield is restricted between the hours of 6:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on or within the following routes or areas: St. Louis City and County; 5t. Charles County on 1-70 between the Mossouri River Bridge and Jet. 61; In the Kansas City area on the routes or inside of the are bounded by Routes 150,291, 1-470,291, 1-435, 1-29 and 1-435; Inside the city limits of Springfield except on 1-44 and 65. Travel is prohibited on the following Holidays: New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day. The State Permit Office is closed on the above-mentioned holidays as well as Lincoln's Birthday, Washington's Birthday, Truman Day, Columbus Day and Veteran's Day, but travel is not restricted on these five additional days.
