TRUCK OVER DIMENSIONAL PERMIT LIMITATIONS
Weight: Single 25,000 Lbs; Tandem - 46,000 Lbs; Tridum - 60,000 Lbs; Quad - 70,000 Lbs. Gross Weight: 5 Axles -105,000 Lbs; 6 Axles-119,000 Lbs; 7 Axles -129,000 Lbs; 8 Axles - Depends on axle configuration.
Height: Maximum 19' without route survey.
If load exceeds any of these dimensions or weights, refer to the State on Super Loads, anything exceeding 200,000 pounds. Maximum overhang is 30'. Any load exceeding 20' wide, 18'11" high or 125' long is required to have a Route Inspection on file. Maximum front overhang allowed with a permit is 25'. Maximum rear overhang allowed with a permit is 30'.
TRUCK SIGNS FLAGS & LIGHTS
Signs are required on Escort vehicles only. A vehicle transporting a load that extends to the rear at least 4' beyond the bed or body of the vehicle shall display on the extreme end of the load: 2 red lamps visible at a distance of at least 500' from the rear; 2 red reflectors that indicate the maximum width and are visible at nighttime at all distances from 100'-600' from the rear when directly in front of lawful lower beams of headlamps; 2 red lamps, 1 on each side, that indicate the maximum overhang and are visible at a distance of at least 500' from the side; at all other times, a vehicles transporting a load that extends beyond the vehicle's sides, or more than 4' beyond the vehicle's rear, shall display red flags that: are at least 12" square; mark the extremities of the load; and are placed where a lamp is required.
Width: Exceeding 14', up to 16' - front-two lane highway, rear-four or more lane highway; Exceeding 16' – front and rear for all roads.
Height: Exceeding 17' - front - equipped with height pole; exceeding 18' - front and rear for all roads, front Escorts to be equipped with height pole.
Length: Exceeding 110' up to 125' - front –two lane highway, rear - four or more lane highway; Exceeding 125' • front and rear for all roads; Rear overhang over 20' to 30'- 1 rear car; Over 30' overhang-front and rear cars; Front overhang over 20' on 2-lane-1 car in front on 4-lane 1 car in rear. ESCORT VEHICLE REQUIREMENTS
Width: Exceeding 14', but not more than 16' - Front-two lane highway, Rear-four or more lane highway; Exceeding 16'-Front & rear for all roads unless the MCD grants an exception.
Height: Exceeding 17'-Front-equipped with height pole; Exceeding 18'-Front & rear for all roads unless the MCD grants an exception. Front escort to be equipped with height pole.
Length: Exceeding 110', but not more than 125'-Front-two lane highway, Rear-four or more lane highway; Exceeding 125'-Front and rear for all roads unless the MCD grants an exception; Exceeding 20' front overhang-Front-two lane highway, Rear-four or more lane highway; Exceeding 20 feet rear overhang-Front-two lane highway, Rear-four or more lane highway. An Escort vehicle must display a sign, on either the roof of the vehicle or the front and/or rear of the vehicle, with the words "OVERSIZE LOAD" or "WIDE LOAD". The sign must have 5' in length and no more than 7' by 12" high, black on yellow, 12" high letters with a brushstroke at least 1.41 inches wide. Sign must be visible from the front or rear of the vehicle. An Escort vehicle must maintain two-way radio communications with the permit load and other Escort vehicles involved with the movement of the permit load.
Daytime movement only. "Daytime" means the period beginning one-half hour before sunrise and ending one-half hour after sunset. Maximum Holiday Restrictions: Loads exceeding 14' wide, 16' high and 110'long, and manufactured housing, may not be transported on New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day. There are no weekend restrictions. To view curfews you may the Texas Department of Transportation website at www.ot.stae.x.us select "Trucking and Vehicles Storage Facilities") A load that does not exceed 10' wide or 100' long may travel at night in Texas on the Interstate Highway system only. A load that is only overweight may travel at night on any Texas highway. The State Permit Office will be closed on: New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day. Travel will not be restricted, Permits may move on any day except New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day. CURFEW: No permitted vehicles 7-9 a.m. and 4-6 p.m. in Beaument, Houston, San Antonio and Tarrant County. Permit not valid without curfew sheet attached. You will receive one with your permit.
